The journey of a South African woman is often marked by resilience in the face of challenges. In 1956, a significant moment in history unfolded as the women of South Africa united. They marched to Pretoria, bravely protesting against the unjust pass laws and the dehumanisation experienced by black African women. This historic gathering transcended racial and social boundaries, becoming a powerful symbol of resistance against the apartheid regime.

In a remarkable display of unity and poignancy, thousands of women assembled and stood silently for 30 minutes, a gesture that spoke volumes and resonated deeply with the nation's spirit. Their courage and determination testify to their commitment to a more just and equitable South Africa.

As we commemorate South African Women's Month, we pay homage to these unsung heroes whose sacrifices have paved the way for a better nation. At Javett-UP, we invite all to join us in this celebration as we recognise and honour the remarkable women whose contributions have played an integral role in making Javett-UP a reality. In this pivotal time, as we approach an electoral year, let us remember that moments of silence and resounding voices hold significance in our journey.

May our collective efforts stand as a testament to the solidarity we share with the women of South Africa, both past and present. As we reflect on their unwavering strength, let us continue to champion the cause of equality and uplift the voices of all women in our society.
